L14: What is Conflict?

So what is conflict? Conflict is a clash of ideas or personalities that may present itself overtly or covertly. In a team setting, the results of such a conflict is often the inability to meet the objective on time.

At Amal we believe that conflict is an opportunity for you to practice everyday leadership. It can come in various shapes and sizes; a slacking teammate, an opposing point of view, lack of acknowledgement, a disagreement in the planning process and the list keeps going on. We're sure many of you have faced at least one of these in the many group settings that you have been a part of at work or in college.

We believe that a conflict is not necessarily a bad thing; in fact it is something you should embrace. We're sure some of you might be confused at this point, but we’re not sharing the reason just yet. In fact, we encourage you to think about how conflict can be good for utilizing the Growth Mindset that we talked about in the last course :)
