DIY: Are Your Goals SMART Enough?

SURPRISE 🎁

Do your remember the first week's Project Work? Your first ever PW in the Fellowship? It's time for us to take a trip down the memory lane for this exciting DIY activity to help you understand why it is important for us to develop SMART goals.

Steps:

  1. Open your first PW document (Project Work 1) and have a look at your responses for the Project 1: Finding your β€˜Why’ which was a part of the online course on Living a Life of Purpose (a picture is shared below to help jog your memory)
  2. You were supposed to come up with some personal and professional goals and identify your 'WHY' for each of those goals
  3. By now, you might have gotten a sense of what you will need to do. Have a look at all those goals that you submitted in your first Project Work and see how SMART do they look now? Spend some time evaluating your goals and then answer the question below:

REFLECTION QUESTION:

How SMART are your goals from this first PW? What aspects are these goals lacking in (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound)? How would it help you to achieve those goals if they were converted into SMART goals? You can look at this guide to help you evaluate.

Here are 2 examples of how you originally might have written your goals in your first PW and how they should look like after making them SMART.

Share your thoughts in the comments below and then see what your Fellows have shared. It is perfectly fine if the goals that you had identified were too vague or basic, because we will be working on developing SMART goals in this week's project work :)
